Opening LoadLedger after installing the multi-computer version of QuickBooks 2007

The installation of the multi-computer version of QuickBooks 2007 causes a Windows Service to start that prevents LoadLedger from starting its database engine. To open LoadLedger, you must stop the Windows Service QuickBooksDB17 as follows:

Note: Use care when stopping and starting Windows Services. The only service you should be starting or stopping for this procedure is QuickBooksDB17.

  1. Close QuickBooks and LoadLedger.

  2. Open your Control Panel and select Services in the Administrative Tools group. (This is typically found by clicking Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services or Start > Settings > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services. You can also get to this window by clicking Start > Run and typing services.msc in the Run box.)

  3. Select the service QuickBooksDB17 and click Stop the service.

  4. Open LoadLedger. Once LoadLedger has opened (and connected to its database), you can re-start the QuickBooksDB17 service. (You have to have the QuickBooksDB17 service running to use QuickBooks 2007.)

You may want to create a shortcut to the Services window. (Click and drag the Services icon in the Control Panel to your Desktop.)
