Opening LoadLedger after installing the multi-computer version of QuickBooks 2007
The installation of the multi-computer version of QuickBooks 2007 causes a Windows Service to start that prevents LoadLedger from starting its database engine. To open LoadLedger, you must stop the Windows Service QuickBooksDB17 as follows:
Note: Use care when stopping and starting Windows Services. The only service you should be starting or stopping for this procedure is QuickBooksDB17.
- Close QuickBooks and LoadLedger.
- Open your Control Panel and select Services in the Administrative Tools group. (This is typically found by clicking Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services or Start > Settings > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services. You can also get to this window by clicking Start > Run and typing services.msc in the Run box.)
- Select the service QuickBooksDB17 and click Stop the service.
- Open LoadLedger. Once LoadLedger has opened (and connected to its database), you can re-start the QuickBooksDB17 service. (You have to have the QuickBooksDB17 service running to use QuickBooks 2007.)
You may want to create a shortcut to the Services window. (Click and drag the Services icon in the Control Panel to your Desktop.)
